Neonatal intubation

Using a laryngoscope, the doctor inserts a breathing tube into the trachea through one of the nostrils or the mouth. It goes past the vocal cords and therefore you cannot hear if the baby cries. The tube is secured to the baby's cheeks with tape and then connected to a ventilator which helps the baby breathe.
