CFM

Cerebral Function Monitoring (CFM) involves continuous EEG monitoring of newborn babies. Unlike a regular EEG, only four electrodes are used. On the computer screen you see an aEEG, a transformed amplitude-integrated EEG which is a simplified, more easily interpreted version of an EEG. This aEEG is interpreted by an experienced neonatologist and can be used in the event of suspected seizures. CFM needs to be supplemented with a standard EEG.
