How to apply for medical treatment
If you are a foreign citizen and want to travel to Stockholm for medical treatment, you should start by contacting our International Patient Office. Our Customer Service Managers at Intrenational Patient Office will help you with all the necessary steps to apply for treatment.
Get a medical second opinion from us
A medical second opinion is valuable if you have a difficult health situation or if you are unsatisfied with your treatment options. You can have medical evaluation by a specialist at our hospital to confirm your diagnosis, review your current treatment plan and explore possible treatment options at home or at Karolinska University Hospital. To request a medical second opinion you should contact our International Patient Office.
The Customer Service Managers at International Patient Office will assist you with practical matters before, during and after your stay in Sweden. They could for example assist you in providing certificates for visa application, hotel reservations, booking of interpreters as well as arranging local transport within Stockholm.

Approved forms of financing are:
- Pre-payment or deposit payment (Self-paying patient)
- Guarantee of Payment (Private medical insurance or Official guarantor/Payer)
- Approved S2 form (Patients from EU financed by public health authority)
