Our Themes and Functions
The care provided at Karolinska University Hospital is organized based on medical theme areas and a number of functions. Thematic care puts the patient's collective medical needs into even greater focus. The care should create value for the patient, in close collaboration with the patients themselves.
To give patients the best possible care, Karolinska University Hospital is implementing a change and creating an organization based on the patient's health care journey, with results that make a difference for the patient. Wards, departments and outpatient care units will be organized by theme. With care teams working thematically, the goal is to create even smoother patient passages. A function is an area of expertise that cuts across the themes. A function consists of skills and resources that are used in many different patient groups and thereby multiple themes.
