Outpatient Laboratory Services and Preanalysis is a quality-assured facility within Karolinska University Laboratory. We offer fast, patient-focused laboratory diagnostics for diseases and treatment follow-ups, professional testing, and processing and preparation of test material for accurate test results.
The laboratory has about 300 employees and is responsible for laboratory services at 75 outpatient laboratories that may be found at health care centers, family practice offices, and community hospitals throughout the Stockholm County Council region. In these laboratories, we carry out various types of testing and lab analyses for fast, quality-assured point-of-care laboratory diagnostics.
We also provide services in the form of sample collection centers and sample drop-off locations at Karolinska University Hospital in Solna and Huddinge. An important element of our services involves the handling and transport of samples within our large geographic area.
Those who have the job of submitting samples are responsible for the sorting and distribution of samples to other laboratory clinics within Karolinska University Laboratory and in certain cases to special laboratories both within Sweden and abroad.
Our laboratories have specialists trained in carrying out pediatric testing, dealing with patients with pronounced fear of needles, and facilities for monitoring urine sampling. We also offer a quality-assured service for point-of-care analysis to clients in outpatient care with the purpose of ensuring patient safety. We continuously strive to improve, and carry out research and development to contribute to future health care. We offer counseling, consultation, and education in our area of expertise. Our services are accredited in accordance with the quality requirements set by the EN ISO standards and we are also environmentally certified.
