The department offers specialized neurological care, research, and education in cooperation with Karolinska Institutet.
The centers are located in Huddinge and Solna. Our services include diagnostics and treatment of diseases or injuries of the central and peripheral nervous systems and the muscles, as well as research and teaching in the same field.
The department was founded on September 1, 2004, through the merger of the departments of neurology at Karolinska Hospital and Huddinge University Hospital. The department is responsible for neurological care in Stockholm County and also provides extensive regional, national, and international care.
The department houses the following units:
- Outpatient services at Huddinge, Solna, and Liljeholmen.
- R15/NAVE (Solna) – Stroke and intensive surveillance unit
- R18 (Solna) – Spinal unit
- R19 (Solna) – General neurology unit
- R81 (Huddinge) – General neurology unit
- R82 (Huddinge) – Stroke and intensive surveillance unit
- R84 (Huddinge) – General neurology unit
Neurological 24-hour on-call service available in Huddinge and Solna.
LSS services
Counseling and support for patients with severe disability. Educational resources for patients and relatives, as well as for the municipality’s administrators, personal assistants, etc.
Spinal cord injury care
The Neurology Department coordinates the program for patients with spinal cord injuries.
