The department provides diagnostic, habilitation, and rehabilitation services for hearing and balance disorders at Huddinge, Solna and Södermalm.
The Diagnostics and Dizziness Units at Solna and Huddinge work up and treat problems related to hearing, dizziness, and tinnitus. The pediatric and adolescent Habilitation Unit can also be found here, and provides services such as fitting hearing aids and related special therapeutic services.
More extensive hearing rehabilitation services for adults are located at Tideliusgatan 12 in Södermalm. Patients who need basic hearing aid fitting are referred to private audiology centers under contract with the county council.
The unit provides work-up and care planning services related to hearing problems, tinnitus, and dizziness.
Services include:
- Diagnosis and follow-up of hearing, dizziness, and balance problems in children and adults
- Hearing test for external care providers
- Authority for infant hearing screening
A referral is no longer required to visit this unit.
We treat children and adolescents aged 0 to 20. We fit hearing aids and technical assistive devices, provide counseling and support to parents, and arrange courses and activities for parents and children.

A referral is required to visit this unit and may come from a family doctor, school doctor, pediatric health center, school health program, or an ear, nose, and throat specialist.
Hearing rehabilitation involves fitting hearing aids and other hearing-related rehabilitation for either groups or individuals, as well as tinnitus rehabilitation.
Patients must have a referral from a family doctor or an ear, nose, and throat specialist to visit the Department of Hearing Rehabilitation. Patients who have already been seen at the clinic do not require a referral.
