Department of Infectious Diseases

The main task of the clinic is to take responsibility for the diagnoses, treatment and care of infectious diseases and infection related conditions.

This is done at wards at Huddinge, Solna, Danderyd and Stockholm Soder Hospital with a total of 157 beds, and through a comprehensive consulting operation at the aforementioned hospitals as well as other hospitals in the county council. The department has collective responsibility for 2,000 HIV-positive patients.

Approximately 5,000 patients are treated annually within institutional care while 28,000 visits are made.

The infection clinic has a broad research profile and carries out world-leading research within HIV, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The comprehensive education includes very highly ranked medical studies and recurrent education in tropical medicine, partly held in Africa.
