    The Department of Cardiology provides care for patients with ischaemic heart disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, congenital or acquired valvular disorders as well as heart transplantations.
  • Center for Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplants
    CAST, the Center for Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplants, is located at the Huddinge division of Karolinska.
  • Centre for Inherited Metabolic Diseases
    Our centre is a specialized laboratory for inherited metabolic diseases.
  • Clinical Chemistry
    Our laboratories analyze the concentration of various biochemical substances in blood, urine, and other body fluids. We also conduct analyses in hematology and coagulation.

    The Department of Clinical Genetics is part of the Karolinska University Laboratory at Karolinska University Hospital in Solna.

    Department of Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine includes a fully equipped clinical immunology laboratory, a regional blood center, and extensive R&D and education-related activities.
  • Clinical Microbiology
    Clinical Microbiology provides diagnostics and advice in bacteriology, virology, mycology and parasitology.
  • Clinical Pathology and Cytology
    Our laboratory conducts diagnostics of cell and tissue samples from clinics and health care centers representing both highly specialized and general health care.
  • Clinical Pharmacology
    Clinical pharmacology is a special resource for the latest findings on the properties and correct usage of pharmaceuticals. The goal is to ensure effective drug treatment with minimal side effects.
  • Clinical Physiology
    The main task of the department is to diagnose, establish severity of disease, and monitor the effects of treatment in patients with various cardiac, pulmonary, renal, and vascular diseases.
  • Department of Nutrition
    For many illnesses, diet is an important part of the treatment. In many cases the right diet is a prerequisite for enabling the medical treatment to function optimally.
  • Department of Urology
    The department of Urology treat surgical illnesses in the urinary tract and male reproductive organs.
  • Dermatology and Venereology
    The operation are dominated by outpatient care within dermatology and venereology, which is carried out at both the Huddinge and the Solna units.
  • Ear, Nose and Throat

    Every year, the emergency room in Huddinge, at the Astrid Lindgren Children’s Hospital and the emergency room in Solna, treat over 200,000 emergency patients.
  • Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes
    The Department of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes specializes in diagnostics, treatment and follow-up of patients metabolic disorders.
  • Gastro Center
    Gastro Center Karolinska is divided into three units; Gastro Center Surgery, Gastroenterology and Gastro Center Care.
  • Geriatrics
    Geriatrics is the science of identifying, diagnosing and treating elderly patients with often multiple illnesses. We treat patients with strokes, acute hip fractures and elderly patients with multiple diseases.

    The department provides diagnostic, habilitation, and rehabilitation services for hearing and balance disorders at Huddinge, Solna and Södermalm.
  • Hematology
    The Hematology Center, Karolinska, was formed through a merger of the departments at former Karolinska Hospital and Huddinge University Hospital.
  • Infectious Diseases
    The main task of the clinic is to take responsibility for the diagnoses, treatment and care of infectious diseases and infection related conditions.
  • Medical Physics
    The Department of Medical Physics has been delegated radiation protection responsibility from the hospital management for all operations with radiation at the Karolinska University Hospital.
  • Neurology
    The department is responsible for neurological care in Stockholm County and also provides extensive regional, national, and international care.
  • Neurophysiology
    We provide diagnostic examinations of functional disorders in the central and peripheral nerve system, muscles and certain sense organs, and conduct sleep analyses for diagnosing apnea and other sleeping disorders.

    The Department of Oncology treats all types of cancers and provides all types of non-surgical interventions.

    The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Karolinska University Hospital is one of Sweden’s leading departments within this area.

    The Department of Orthopedics is a department with emergency and scheduled care of patients with diseases and injuries affecting the locomotor system.
  • Outpatient Laboratory Services and Preanalysis
    Outpatient Laboratory Services and Preanalysis is a quality-assured facility within Karolinska University Laboratory.

    The Radiology Departments carry out advanced examinations that comprise an important component in work-up and treatment of various medical conditions.
  • Renal Medicine
    The department is responsible for renal medical care and dialysis treatment of patients from the majority of the greater Stockholm area in total, close to 1.5 million inhabitants.
  • Respiratory Medicine and Allergy
    The Department of Respiratory Medicine and Allergy at Huddinge University Hospital and Karolinska Hospital have been merged into a single clinic at Karolinska University Hospital with operations in Huddinge and Solna.
  • Rheumatology
    We admit and treat patients with rheumatological diseases, both localized and general, which affect the joints, muscles, fibrous tissues and skeleton.

  • Transplantation Surgery
    The Department of Transplantation Surgery at Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge is responsible for all kidney-, pancreas- and islet transplantations performed in the Stockholm region and is together with Gothenburg the main referral centre for liver transplantations in Sweden. Heart transplantations are carried out in collaboration with the departments of cardiology at Karolinska and Uppsala University Hospital. Thoracic surgical partner is Skåne Universtiy Hospital in Lund.
