Physical Therapy program

Physical therapists work with prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation related to problems with mobility. The three-year program includes both theoretical studies and clinical training in the hospital and through community health services.

Educational program
The subject of physical therapy involves the study of human movement, with a focus on the ability to perceive, control, and use the body appropriately, taking into account the requirements imposed by the physical and social environment. The program in its entirety aims to integrate the theory and methodology of physical therapy with clinical practice and is coordinated with courses in anatomy, physiology, medicine, and the behavioral sciences.

Subjects:

  • Physical therapy
  • Anatomy
  • Physiology
  • Psychology

Clinical training
The clinical portion of the program prepares the student to meet patients with both acute and chronic problems of function in the respiratory and circulatory organs, as well as in the musculoskeletal system and the central and peripheral nervous system.

The student will encounter patients and prepare them to undergo various types of surgical procedures, mobilize postoperative patients, and treat any respiratory or circulatory complications that may arise.

Degree
Upon completion of their studies students are awarded an occupational and bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. The National Board of Health and Welfare is responsible for licensing physical therapists.
