Biomedicine specialists are experts in the biology of both the healthy and diseased human body. They focus on the underlying mechanisms of the major common diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, allergies, and dementia.
Biomedicine specialists do research and apply the newly acquired knowledge on the molecular level in order to develop future diagnostic and treatment methods.
Educational program
The biomedicine program is an academic program that provides a strong foundation in the natural sciences with an emphasis on biological processes in humans on both the cellular and molecular level, and teaches students how to use this foundation to advance the frontiers of medical progress. Biomedicine is an international field that offers opportunities for studies abroad.
The program includes both the basic sciences and medically oriented subjects. Theory is integrated with laboratory experience and training is provided in scientific work, in which biostatistics and the use of computers play a major role. Special emphasis is placed on pharmaceutical mechanisms, production, and metabolism in the body.
What subjects are included?
The first four terms are devoted to basic chemistry, physiology, pharmacology, etc. Terms 5 and 6 include subjects such as biology of infectious diseases, oncology, molecular medicine, and pharmaceutical treatment.
Degree
Successful completion of the program leads to a master’s degrees in biomedicine.
