Pediatric Simulation and Training Center

Karolinska University Hospital has Sweden's largest units for taking care of acutely ill children. In seriously ill neonates and older children the initial and emergency care may determine disease outcome.

Teamwork
A sick child needs a team of professionals who have trained together and developed high expertise, coordination, clear leadership, and good communication skills. For the best possible patient safety and quality of care, interprofessional teamwork plays a key role.

Full-scale simulators
At the pediatric simulation and training center everyone who works with sick children can practice individual procedures together, such as intubation and how to react within a team in difficult situations. Training and education are provided here on full-scale simulators representing various ages, rather than on sick children. We train in environments and in teams to approximate reality as closely as possible.

High level of competence and flexibility
Our training programs are mobile and may be held on site at workplaces or in our facilities at Alfred Nobels Allé 8, Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge (at KTC). Our instructors are a multidisciplinary group. They are all clinically active and work in various areas of the Pediatric Division or cooperating units. Therefore our courses offer a high level of competence and flexibility, and we can also create courses based on the participants' needs and requests.
