For many children, the first contact with the hospital is when they take their first breath, or even earlier when their mothers visit our department of obstetrics and gynecology for ultrasound or prenatal diagnostics.
Ever since the pediatric hospitals were planned and built, the motto has been to focus on the child. Each child has its own home department, regardless of how many specialists must be called in. The personnel come to the patient, not the other way around; this means that all expertise gathers around the child and the family.
We provide pediatric care in Huddinge and Solna, and also have a neonatal care unit at Danderyd Hospital. The Children’s Hospital in Huddinge celebrated its 30th birthday in April 2004. Astrid Lindgren’s Children’s Hospital in Solna opened in March 1998.
All foreign patients who wish to receive medical treatment in Stockholm are served by Stockholm Care. Stockholm Care offers access to the resources of the Stockholm County hospitals for people living outside Sweden.
